Green Technology for the Blue Economy, the carbon footprint, environmental and social impact of our operations and vessels within the blue economy is paramount in Triumph’s operations as an organisation.
Currently the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is implementing numerous changes within the marine industry in regards to vessel emissions controls, pollution controls and ballast water management systems. These new IMO rules in conjunction with the rapidly increasing technology in vessels engines and hybrid energy storage systems are rendering many existing vessels obsolete and therefore a new generation of vessels is required to meet these growing demands.
Triumph’s vessel fleet has been designed to meet and exceed the IMO 2020 regulations and meet the Net Zero carbon emissions goals to combat climate change. As the world rapidly transitions from its reliance on fossil fuels and commences to focus on alternate energy sources such as wind, solar and green hydrogen there is an ever increasing need to ensure that all operations pertaining to developing these alternate energy sources are Net Zero. New advanced technology, robotics, safety systems and autonomous systems are incorporated within our vessels and we are at the forefront of future proof, environmentally friendly and Net Zero capabilities.
Triumph’s in-house vessel designs are future proofed so that as technology and marine equipment continues to advance, change and evolve the vessels can also adapt and change to the new technology. Our in-house designer working with the naval architects and our primary equipment vendors has based our various vessel designs and all main equipment on a rationalized approach with an emphasis on being interchangeable, modular, adaptable and scalable across our fleet. This rationalized approach also forms the basis of our sustainability, environmental and net-zero commitments. This rationalized design allows for minimal spare parts inventory to be held, thus minimising spares OPEX, whilst being sustainable and environmentally friendly. Our vessels are designed to be autonomous and only reliant on shore based facilities for fuel, food and personnel transfers. Advanced reverse osmosis systems, water evaporator systems, wastewater treatment plants and waste disposal systems, all with redundancy, mitigate the requirement for shore based disposal.
Our vessel designs conform to the highest levels of class notation in regards to Clean Design, Environmental Design and SPS Code, where a focus is placed on low fuel consumption, reduced exhaust emissions, environmental protection systems and safety. All of our vessels are diesel electric with hybrid battery systems and advanced energy recovery systems that greatly enhance the fuel consumption figures for the vessels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Our commitment and goal is to have developed, built and to be operating a truly Net Zero vessel fleet by 2035 or sooner.
Triumph’s vessels conform to the highest levels of DNV GL and all have the following DNV GL - Environmental and Security Class Notations.
CLEAN (DESIGN, TIER III): Environmental and pollution control. Compliant with NOx emissions requirements of Tier III according to MARPOL Annex VI, Regulation 13.
ECA (SOx – A): Vessel designed to operate all machinery components e.g. main propulsion plant, power generation plant, steam/thermal oil plant, etc. on marine distillate fuel.
BWM (T): Ballast water management.
EP-D: Environmental Passport by Design.
FC (POWER): Fuel cell installation for essential, important and emergency power.
BATTERY (POWER): ESS power is used for redundant source of power.
SHORE (POWER): Electrical shore power connections while in port.
VIBR: Vibration levels for machinery, components and structures.
QUIET I: Measuring of airborne noise emitted from vessels when berthed.
SILENT E: Vessels demonstrating a controlled noise emission.
RECYCLABLE: Development of Inventory of Hazardous Materials Part 1.
Cyber Security Advanced +: Addresses, assesses and secures against cyber security incidents.
